Spain

The Group’s activity in Spain is carried out through BBVA, SA the parent company of BBVA. Additionally, the Group has other companies in banking, insurance, real estate as well as service and operating leasing companies.

Rest of Europe

BBVA operates in the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Ireland and Switzerland. Having obtained the necessary authorisations on March 22, 2011, BBVA finalized the acquisition of a 25.01% stake in Turkiye Garanti Bankasi AS. Garanti is Turkey's second largest bank by asset size.

Mexico

The Group's presence in Mexico since 1995, mainly through Grupo Financiero BBVA Bancomer, both in the banking sector through BBVA Bancomer, SA as in the insurance sector, mainly through Seguros Bancomer.

United States

In recent years, the Group has expanded its presence in the United States through the acquisition of several financial groups operating in various southern states. In 2009, through its subsidiary BBVA Compass, the Group acquired certain assets and liabilities of Guaranty Bank, Inc. from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Latin America

The Group's activity in Latin America is mainly on the banking insurance, in the following countries: Chile, Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, Argentina, Panama, Paraguay and Uruguay.

Asia

The Group’s business in Asia is carried out through operational branches (in Tokyo, Hong Kong and Singapore) and representative offices (in Beijing, Shanghai, Seoul, Mumbai and Taipei). In addition, the BBVA Group holds several agreements with the CITIC Group to develop a strategic alliance in the Chinese market. The investment in the CITIC Group includes investments in Citic International Financial Holdings Limited and China National Citic Bank.
