The performance of the main stock-market indices has varied greatly over the last twelve months. The Stoxx 50 lost 2.9%, while in the Eurozone the Euro Stoxx 50 gained 0.7% and in Spain, the Ibex 35 fell by 2.0%. The S&P 500, which tracks the share prices of U.S. companies, closed the year up 9.5%, most of the gain being in the second half of the year.
